Eating disorders are emotionally challenging. If you are also neurodivergent, things can feel even more complicated. What You Need To Know is a neurodiversity-informed guide developed by the PEACE Pathway to support individuals navigating these challenges with greater self-understanding, confidence, and compassion.
The guide brings together lived experience, clinical knowledge, and research to help individuals make sense of how neurodivergence can shape their eating difficulties, emotional regulation, sensory experiences, and everyday routines. The resource also highlights the importance of recognising neurodivergent needs regardless of formal diagnosis and provides signposts to further support.

Robert shares his and his wife’s experience and advice in caring for a child with autism and an eating disorder.
This lived experience piece explores how receiving an autism diagnosis shaped two individuals’ journeys through eating disorder recovery. They reflect on the challenges they faced in treatment before understanding their neurodivergence, how the diagnosis reframed their experiences, and how recovery strategies became more effective when adapted to their sensory and cognitive needs. Their stories highlight the importance of autism-informed approaches in eating disorder care.
